Argh, thar be treasure in sight
Did somebody say treasure hunt?
It’s the time of the year when the nights lengthen, the leaves turn from green to a myriad of autumn hues, and the fruits of the season are harvested. Cider presses are now juicing apples and pears to make this season’s real cider and perry that will be ready by next May. This year the Branch is promoting a treasure hunt to find real cider in pubs and clubs around the area. It’s free to enter, and you don’t even need to be a CAMRA member, though we hope you may consider it. You can join here and get 15 months for the price of 12 if you pay by direct debit.
So what we want you to do is…..
Go to the pub and order a cider
Fill out this form and let us know what you are drinking and where >>>>> https://forms.gle/bVYCxzZ1NyAWCTGH8 (Don’t forget your email address)
You will receive an email back (this is a manual process, so allow a bit of time) of a Doubloon (well done, you’ve found a real cider) or a skull and crossbones (unlucky, the cider you are drinking does not match the CAMRA criteria)…
The person with the most doubloons will receive a FREE copy of the Good Beer Guide 2023. If there is a tie, names will be entered in a randomiser, and the winner will be selected that way.
We are also offering a second competition for the most humorous photograph involving real cider or perry purchased at a venue within the Bradford branch’s area. We also have a £20 voucher to give away that will allow you to purchase real cider from Bradford’s only real cidermaker, Grumpy John’s. Grumpy Johns Cider | Facebook
The competition runs from 1st October 2022 until midnight on 31st October 2022. Full rules can be found
The idea is to encourage people, whether CAMRA members or not to enter an exciting and interactive Treasure Hunt during the month of October, one of the Campaign’s two cider-focus months.
On the Bradford CAMRA website, participants will be directed to enter the name of the cider they are drinking and the pub they are drinking in. The cider must have been purchased at the premises during the normal opening times as listed on the pub’s Venue licence.
Entries can be made via the form Bradford CAMRA website only. No written entries, no mobile text or personal entries can be accepted. This competition is not national and applies only to pubs in the Bradford CAMRA area.
If the cider they have purchased is a real cider as defined by CAMRA, then the submitter will receive an image of a doubloon. If not a real cider an image of a skull and crossbones will be sent.
Only one doubloon per venue and product can be awarded in the month. If you have a doubloon for one venue and purchase the same product at a different venue, then you will receive a further doubloon, but only once in the month, for that venue. At the end of the month, we will contact the winner via email. We will dispose of all other emails, and they will not be used for any form of marketing by CAMRA or Bradford CAMRA branch.
The winner of the competition will be determined by Bradford CAMRA and informed as soon as possible after 31st October 2022. If a CAMRA member, the prize will be presented at an agreed branch or social meeting of the Bradford CAMRA branch. If a non-member, we will invite you to attend a social branch event and be presented with your prize there. All entrants agree that the branch may use your name and photo for publicity purposes in connection with the Bradford CAMRA branch.
A second competition will also be run during the month for the most humorous picture involving real cider at any venue where it is sold.
The Bradford branch cider officer and webmaster will be the sole judges of submitted entries which must be received by 2359 on 31 October 2022. All submitted entries become the property of the Bradford CAMRA branch and may be used by them in printed or electronic form for branch campaigning, recruiting or publicity events.
The prize for this will be a voucher for the purchase of up to £20 worth of product from the Bradford branch’s only current cider maker, Grumpy Johns.
Should any issues arise regarding this competition or the rules, they will be determined by the Bradford branch committee fairly and without bias.
